The Ennis Townsend Memorial Award
“Fostering Creativity in Young Minds”
Dear Students of Morris, NY.
My wife Kyna and I are pleased to continue an award in honor of our son, Ennis. Ennis was a profound thinker. He had an active imagination, and his creativity was boundless. While we can only imagine what he would have become later on in life, we can think of no better way to honor his brief, shining life than with an award of $1000 to one of his fellow creative Classmates.
We will award $1000 to help a student reach their creative goals in life. Therefore, we believe that the best way to discover the person who will be able to benefit most from this award is to ask all students from 4th-12th grade to write an essay stating “What would I do if I were to win this award”. This award will be presented during Morris’ Moving Up/Graduation Ceremony in June, so now is the time to act!
Dream Big. What do you want to do in life? Do you want to be a painter? Or maybe a musician…or an airplane pilot? Maybe you want to create sculptures or direct your own movie. Whatever your creative goals are, this money might be your way to kickstart that dream into reality.
In 500 words or less, please try to best explain what you want to do and what specifically you would need the money for. For example, you’d like to learn how to play piano, but you need lessons and a good keyboard. Or perhaps you want to make animation films, but your computer doesn’t have the right software. Specify the software program, keyboard model, or cost of piano lessons. Your essays will be reviewed by a team of internal staff members to help decide who will be awarded.
Submit your essay before or on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023.
You may hand it in to your teacher or drop it off at the Main Office.
Good Luck and Keep Dreaming!
